I built a colt a4 clone it was a pa state police ar 15 .The lower is marked ar15 with the LE government stamp on the side. I put a knights r5 rail on it with the 3 covers. And a mounted light and knight broom stick .The gun also has the colt upper with a agog ta31rco4A  sight . I also put a top sling rig on it. Do i need a back up sight for this combo i have or are they used with out a extra site? Also the rail and the mags still have the sand from their tour of duty on and in them.Should i get the back up sight ?

I was the only person in my unit to have a BUIS, and thats because I bought my own Troy.

We saw the Army and NG roll with Matech, but we were never issued anything.  So you are correct.  Some guys just screwed their carry handle to the RAS.

1.  Somtimes it takes more than an hour to get a reply.
2.  As for BUIS, that's kind of like asking if you need a spare tire.  Not always, but when you do you really do.

Lots of .mil rifles don't have them, or they have the carry handle unit.  If you have the capability to get a BUIS (and they are relatively cheap compared to some of the items you already have) put a low-pro unit under your ACOG.  You might not ever need it, but they are nice to have when you do.
