Hi, I just received a 1720 Pelican Weapon (in Case Desert Tan) in the mail and eventhough this is my first Pelican weapon case, I have owned at least 5 other Pelican cases. The foam that comes with the weapon case is NOT the Pick-n-Pluck foam. After calling the manufacturer, they said that they don't make the Pick-n-Pluck foam for the weapon cases because the foam would rip too easily for weapons. My question is for those that have used them, whay do you guys do? Do you cut the foam with a razor to custom fit your weapon, or do you just lay the weapon directly on the foam and allow the weapon to be held in the case by the sandwiching effect of the foam?

Here's a link about cases, cutting foam and general info. ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=19&t=290776 There's a thread somewhere about cutting foam with a special table which utilizes a hot cable for cutting foam. The results are incredibly impressive. I'll try to find it. HS1 |

Here's the thread containing several links dealing with how to cut case foam and the "hot wire table." ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=19&t=320446 I cut mine with a razor knife, but the results are ugly with jagged edges and unevenly cut foam. I'm buying the "hot wire table" and ordering some new foam in a couple,of weeks. ![]() HS1 |
