Hello All, Ok since my original posts sent some looking for a conspiracy... my name is Dave Bane, and I own MarColMar Firearms LLC in Richmond IN. I am an FFL/SOT and Class II Manufacturer... I am INDEED working with my local rifle range in support of the Boy Scout Shooting program where we do indeed use not only .22 rifle, handgun, shotgun, but also M1 Carbine, Garand and AR-15s in their shooting orientation. We have done this for several years... The boys, by ages, progress up the line starting with air rifles and bows, to .22 rifles, then handguns, next 20 ga. shotguns and finally rifles (size appropriate as selection of type). We have been using M1 Carbines for several years, but have found that the boys respond better to ARs. I'm sure the games and media itself play a part here, and they shoot them better... probably due to their design. There is no conspiracy... we do this annually and it is indeed one of the biggest events of the year for the boys. Last year during lunch I gave a CIII presentation on the guns of Iraq... and demoed for them CIII toys such as AKs, M16a4, PKM, RPD, M249 and the MP5 (room clearing). The previous 2 years we did WWII German and WWII American. In addition, I run the Indiana State Submachine Gun matches (www.issmc.com) and while I haven't frequented AR-15 board, I am a regular on the other two CIII boards for years. I was unaware of the approval requirement for donations on the board and humbly apologize. For those who have already donated their spares I thank you. For those who I concerned over possible improper motives, I hope I have alleviated them. For those who still smell fish... take off the tinfoil hats! (just joking)... thanks to everyone now matter - who support black rifles and freedom! Thanks again! Dave Bane Augdog1964 |

Thanks Bert! It takes a lot of people to support a truly good Boy Scout Troop... and unfortunately what we've seen is a lot of men in today's world don't want to take the time to work with the boys... and especially at the Cub Scout level, women are left to volunteer...and stand in the gap. Young men these days, especially those from single parent households where their moms are doing double duty and having to work, really need male influences, interaction and examples... making the Boy Scouts today even more important than it ever has been... Support this organization when and where you can! Dave Bane Augdog1964 MarColMar Firearms LLC |
| Two weeks ago the Boy Scout troop was at the local public range. Several of the older scouts got a kick out of shooting my cousin's Barrett M-99. Unfortunately, the scoutmasters provided their own guns, and most were shooting the SKS or some sort of AK (no ARs). That was the only day I went to the range with just one AR and a small supply of match ammo, otherwise I would have let some of the younger scouts shoot my AR too. |
