Since I'm a newbie I like to read as much about ARs as I can, which is why i joined AR15.com.  This site rocks!!! by the way.  very very informative.  For the most part all of my questions have been answered.  Mostly by using the search function.

However, I am a firm believer in researching from as many sources as possible.  I have already read The Gun Digest Book of the AR-15 and The AR-15 Complete Owver's Guide Vol 1 2nd Ed.  Are there any other books that anyone would recommend?  general info, how to books etc.  Even any magazines that I should subscribe to?

Thank you.

I'm not sure about the two resources you mentioned. From what I've read on this site The Book of the Black Rifle and The Book of The Black Rifle II are good reads. Also, The Ammo Oracle should answer most of your ballistics questions.

The replies above are good ones, meatball.

I would add that this web-site's tech forums (AR15 Discussions - Uppers, Barrels, Lowers, etc - Optics - M16 - and Retro) all offer insightful discussions and candid feedback on aftermarket and standard components, and are as good as any reference on a bookshelf or in a magazine. The companies listed on the banners at the top of this page also provide good educational and informative material.

Other good web-site suggestions:

RetroBlackRifle.com  (historical references)

M4Carbine.net  (similar to this site)

10-8forums   (dedicated to law enforcement and .mil communities)

Lightfighter.net  (similar to this site)
