Good day to all.  My name is Thomas and I am new here.  Basically, I have several questions.  First, I have recently purchased an AK variant (GP WASR 10).  It isn't the nicest looking but functions and is fun to shoot.  I, however, feel a little rushed at the possibility of a new so called assault weapons ban.  I would like to get a few more hi cap semi autos before the ban is anywhere near passed.  Among these I would like to get an AR, an AK 74 variant (probably will end up being a WASR 2), and a FN FAL or a G3/CETME.  Anyway, getting to the point, I would like to focus on the AR for the time being.  I believe this will be the most expensive of the ones I'm looking at and as such getting it out of the way would be paramount.  However, first I know very little about them.  I have never fired an AR or even the M-16 (Diabetic sadly military service was not possible).  I understand that they are more accurate over longer distances then the AK.  Second, I'm rather limited in finances would only be able to get a few hundred dollars to work with at a time.  I believe from that perhaps building one would be the best option.  I'm inclined to making things and following directions so I think I could do it.  If I have trouble and specific questions I'm on enough forums that I think I could get help if needed.  With that, I have been looking around and think perhaps I should purchase a stripped lower reciever to begin with though I'm not sure.  Anyway, I'm wanting an AR in the $700 range or so not too much more but could get one a little more if needed.  However, I thought over the course of a few paychecks I could buy the parts and then put it together.  If that isn't the best idea I'm here to listen I would prefer to do things the best way I can (would like an M-4 style AR, small, dependalbe, carbine sized).  Anyway, I here to listen to any advice out there and any help would be much appreciated.  I thank anyone who can help in advance.

welcome to the site; advice: read, read, and read some more, esp the tacked threads and use the "search" feature

begin w/ this one for your AR builds: BUID

imo, get a complete stag lower and upper from one of the dealers in the EE/ind board and be done w/ it for under $700
