| I new to the forum and I am looking to build a AR15 with a A1 upper. Im looking to get as close to the army issued version from the Vietnam era, any comments and advice would be appreciated. |

Welcome to ARFcom, you've come to the right place for what you are looking for. I have not built, nor do I have what is now called a "Retro" AR.
