how far do u drill into the barrel and do u only need to weld in 1 pin or 2?

I did mine with a set screw, just enought to get a good bite, probably less than 1/16"
Then welded over the top

1 is all you need.

I drill about 0.050" into the threads.
One pin is all you need.
