I'll be the first to get this out of the way - I'm about to ask some dumb newb questions that I should already know the answers to. That being said... Second time ever at the range this last weekend with my new Bushy 20" A3. Shot another 200 rounds - no optics yet. Really trying to master the irons first, learn the rifle, then probably scope. Anyway, I'm shooting 2" high at 50 yards - about 4" high at 100 yards. I know with a scope, if you are shooting high, you rotate the elevation up - follow the path of the bullet. However, on my front post site, there is an arrow pointing to the left that says "up". I assumed that I would rotate the post clockwise, to raise the front site, therefore following the path of the bullet, and bringing my groups down. I read in the manual last night, actually, that in order to lower my groups, I should rotate the post counterclockwise. I did this, and I could swear the post was going up; which is a good thing. So, what's the deal? If I need to lower my groups, why would it have "Up" marked with the arrow going left (clockwise). Is this marking saying that to move my groups up I should rotate that direction? Best I can figure. It just seems total opposite on a scope. If I'm shooting high with a scope, I turn the elevation turret towards the "Up" mark. Am I completely confused and dumb here? |

Wrong, Cleatus! Rotating the Front sight in the "up" arrow direction (clockwise) will LOWER the front sight in the front sight base and bring the POI (point of impact) up. You want to turn that sight COUNTER CLOCK WISE to bring your POI DOWN!! You're thinking of it wrong. If you turn the sight clockwise you're effectively raising the Barrel in relation to the sight picture. |

All I know is adjustment of the front sight is opposite of the rear. If you are shooting high you raise the front sight, so that means unscrewing it, turning it counter clockwise as looking down on it. I don't pay attention to arrows because sometimes the person putting the arrow on there may not be doing the same thing you want to do. Does the arrow mean up as in raising the group up or raising the front sight, which will lower the group? Too much trouble. Raise the front sight to lower the group regardless of what any arrow or markings say. Or you lower the rear, turning its knob clockwise. |

Cool - that's where I netted out last night after re-reading the manual. Just seems the other way for a scope unless I'm doing that wrong too. If I need to move my groups down on a scope, I rotate the elevation turret "down" (my scope actually says "down" with an arrow for that direction). Question on my windage knob on the rear site. If my group needs to come to the right, do I rotate that know in the direction of the "R"? Again, this seems opposite on a scope, where I was told if I'm shooting left, rotate left and follow the path of the bullet. |

The directions on the A2 sight system will ALWAYS be for moving the POI!!!! So if you're shooting 2" left, turn your windage knob 2 clicks in the direction of the R arrow! And while we're on the subject... if you're POI is 4" high at 100 yards You should be dead on if you turn your front sight 4 clicks counter clockwise!!! 1 click = 1" movement in POI at 100 yards. Same goes for the windage on the rear! |
