push the detent out on one side, it will swivel down, then use a punch and punch the pin out of the other side.

The front "pin" is a spring load detent. Like Steve-Oh said:

"push the detent out on one side, it will swivel down, then use a punch and punch the pin out of the other side. "

"on one side" is the front detent. "the other side" is the rear through pin.

The detent is the one that looks like a solid stainless steel pin.  The other is a roll pin (hollow pin).

I just ordered a Magpul trigger guard for my Stag Arms.

1-What tools do I need to install it?

2- What all tools should I have anyway now that I have another black rifle and don't plan to ever sell it? Is there a kit of all the tools needed for buliding/fixing ARs?

3-I am confused on what it means "it will swivel down" to punch the pin out?

4-Do I just push the stainless looking pin down and the role pin out is that all there is to it?

thanks

1-What tools do I need to install it? All you need is a punch and a hammer. IIRC, it's a 1/16" punch.

2- What all tools should I have anyway now that I have another black rifle and don't plan to ever sell it? Is there a kit of all the tools needed for buliding/fixing ARs? Don't know if a "kit" is available, probably is if you find the right place. I'm just buying tools as I need them.

3-I am confused on what it means "it will swivel down" to punch the pin out? The original trigger guard will swing down and lay flat against the pistol grip for those cold winter days when you're wearing gloves. The Magpul trigger guard will not swing down out of the way like the original.

4-Do I just push the stainless looking pin down and the role pin out is that all there is to it? Yes. Push in the front detent pin and the original guard will swing down. Knock out the rear roll pin and remove the trigger guard. Install the Magpul in reverse manner. However the Magpul comes with a small set scew that installs in the front hole.  Besure to support the back side of the trigger guard boss when removing/installing the roll pin. You can break the ear off the receiver if you don't have proper support.

thanks

I found it easier to install the end with the set screw first and then punch in the rollpin second.

I impulse bought a magpul trigger guard yesterday and installed it last night. Add in the CTR and the rail covers I'm a walking magpul ad.

That is the most important thing when it comes to aftermarket crap!

Using a pair of Vice grips to press fit the roll pin in works better than using a punch IME. I wish someone would have showed me that trick about 10 builds ago.

Works great for the bolt catch roll pin too.
