Forget about the handguard...
What about that REAR sight at the FRONT of the receiver?

I found out, it is made by F.A. Industries.. or WAS, they no longer make it..

Having trouble finding a handguard that I like and isn't super expensive.

Have you checked out Yankee Hill Machine?  They have some of the cheaper handguards that I've seen, but they still look good.

i had my irons like that before i got an eotech and dominator.  it helps with the entry buttstocks.  large aperture up.  kinda for cqb style, same idea as mounting a reddot forward.  try it, youd be surprised at how well it works.

this was the setup that worked for me.  having the gas block out that far was just to try a diff sight radius.  i was going to run a sight base out there.

Switching gears again,

I've settled on the JP VTAC, not a bad price, like the ability to add what I want, where I want it..

the yhm are about $100, plus whatever for rails.  i have one on a .223 upper, a beowulf upper, and im trying to put one on a .308.  theres some on the ee for cheap, even have the antirotation screw.
