| What is the best sling for ARs out there? I am looking at the MAMBA Combat Sling and the Blackhawk Swift Sling. Out of these two, which is better? |

Do you want to know what is the "best" sling, or which of your two choices is "better"? The perceived quality of a sling is directly related to the intended use of the sling. A sling can provide assistance to the shooter in a number of ways; fast employment, easier transitons, enhanced marksmanship, or simply as a transportation method. Your two choices imply that you want a sling to aid in carrying the weapon. Definitively stating what you want the sling to do will make a recommendation much easier, and more pertinent to you personally. Edited for punctuation. It's late damnit. |

+1. Also really like the Viking Tactics slings. Once again, it all revolves around intent. |

for my M4 i have a Spectre Gear 3pt SOP sling which works well. Comfortable to carry, well balanced, and when adjusted right takes some of the weight off the front of the rifle. I tried one of the Gear ASP slings and i thought it was too thin for my heavy carbine. I put it on my friends Colt M4 w/ KAC RAS, Aimpoint, and it feels great. I stepped up to the Troy Single Point sling which is a lot nicer for my heavy carbine. The single point is good if i'm doing reflexive firing or sidearm transition since the rifle drops to my weak side. on my SPR-ish build i went with a 2pt Viking Tactics/Larue Tactical sling. It works great when i am shooting without glass and puts the rifle right on my chest, and when shooting with glass from an unsupported position (kneeling) i can tighten it up. on my remington 700 i have a turner AWS (1913 style) sling which is by far the best precision sling setup in my opinion. even standing i can lock up the sling and it offers a very stable way to shoot the rifle. this was important to me since i also take this rifle out for deer and a deer isn't going to wait for me to go prone and deploy the bipod. it all depends on what you need and personal comfort. there is no one single "best sling ever". |
