I have my first AR15 on order. POF 16" with Troy flip F/R, MagPul PRS stock, quad rail, standard trigger, raptor bipod. Have EOTech 553. Plenty of mags (with magpuls). a LULA, and ammo. Vickers 2-pt sling. Nothing else. No NV. No illumination. No vests, etc. I have about $500 to a max of $1,000 left in budget for this project. Looking for the voice of experience. If this were your situation, what (if anything) would you consider the highest priority to add?

What are you going to do with it? Go to war?, 3- gun?, SHTF, Zombies?..airsoft? It all depends.

Mostly FUN! However if SHTF, (and/or zombies get loose) this will be my go-to rifle. So far it sounds like weapon light, more ammo (have 3K+) are the way to go and of course I will get as much trigger time as I can and replace/add ammo as used.

OK, Then get a surefire G2 and Weiver ring for lite,More ammo and mags and try to find a club that puts on a 3-gun match of some kind and shoot.

Sounds like a plan! I'll look up the SureFire and start asking around about shooting club activities in this area. I've seen 3-gun on TV. Looks like very good training. I was an 11B10 but that was long ago. Only range time lately has been to zero my 30-06 for deer season and exercise a few pistols. BTW, this may be a stupid question but is 10 mags and a minimum level of 3K on ammo enough?
