According to the Wiki article, it's a carbine length gas system. Did they change it to Mid afterwards or is the Wiki wrong??

From what I've read the real-deal Naval Special Warfare Recce rifles were all carbine length gas systems, because that's what they had handy (basically standard M4s modified with a 16" Lilja SS barrel).  Most folks assembling them now have moved to a midlength gas system because it's less stressful on the system than the carbine gas system.  YMMV.

also what I heard, and since the military doesn't use the mid-length, reparing/replacing gas tubes (for whatever reason) in the field wouldn't be a viable option

RECCE rifles are really more of a concept which is cool because it gives you a little artistic freedom when it comes to your build. basic qualifications would be a low to mid powered optic, a low profile gas block, free float rail system, bi-pod, and most of the time a collapsible stock.

here's mine

As a retired ex-Recon man, the aerial Recon reports we got from the USAF were Air RECCE's.  I am not sure what the actual acronym is anymore.
