Hello i'm new to this board. I am in the planning stagees of building my first AR and was wondering if i had to have a FFl to purchase a lower. This might be a dumb question but on all the sites I've looked at the wanted a copy of a FFL before processing an order.

No, an FFL is for someone who wants to run a business dealing in guns and gun related stuff. All you need is for the lower to be shipped to an FFL. You then pay the FFL $25-$35 to deal with the governmental paper work and walk away with your new lower.

An FFL is required to purchase a lower. That means either you have to have an FFL or you have to buy it through an FFL.
