I have a bolt carrier that is milled so that the firing pin is exposed to ride on the hammer as the action cycles.
I have been having a problem with the bolt hanging up when going into battery, and there are marks on the firing pin where it is catching.
I have two other carriers with a "protected" firing pin and don't have this problem.
The pic isn't the carrier but it looks like the top two.
The bottom carrier is the "protected" firing pin type.(I know it is an m16 type but I have a semi-auto type with the same protected firing pin)
Does anyone know of a fix for this?
Thanks

I had this problem, the notch on the hammer was catching on the firing pin and jamming it. So I ground the notch on the top of the  hammer down and gave it a round look.
No more hang up.

Also you may have an M16 firing pin, a larger diameter collar. Check that too.

Some companies I bought pins from had AR15 style pins that were incorrectly sized at the collar. They were smaller than a M16 style pin but larger than an SP1 AR15 style pin. Bushmaster was selling the correctly sized ones last I ordered one from them.

Thanks
I found an article when I did a google search on ar15 firing pin differences and checked my pin against the pictures.
Sure enough, I have an m16 pin.
I ordered the semiauto pin.
Nothing more frustrating than a gun that doesn't work right.
Thanks again.
