Well, I went out to reddington today for some gunfire therapy and it was the first time I'd ever tried to bumpfire my rifle. It worked fine mostly except I would have light primer strikes on several of the rounds. This is using a Chip McCormick single stage match trigger and '05 lake city pd855. It also hung up on adcom and radway. After clearing the jams it would rattle off until another light strike. I also reloaded all the struck rounds and they fired fine. Is it normal to have light strikes when bumpfiring? I've never experienced any problems otherwise. (Also happened with another rifle, '20 with modified stock trigger) Thanks in advance. (300 rounds of therapy. Ahhhhhh.) |

Considering that you are using the rifle in a way that it was not designed to be, you shouldn't be surprised. Note: I'm not saying anything for or against bumping, just that when you use a weapon in a way it wasn't designed to be used, you can't expect reliability. |
| When I first started bump firing my AR15 I had some issues with light strikes, but I played around with some different ammo! Don't use the cheap reloads or military surplus for awhile. I would also get more like strikes and jamming problems when using the hip fired method of bump firing. Using the hip fired method your gun moves alot more lateraly than what it would when you shoot it from the shoulder making your gun malfuction. Kind of like limp wristing a pistol. Try a shoulder fired method if you haven't already! |
GOOD POINT....... BUT IT IS STILL ALOT OF FUN !!! |

I was amazed at how fast I could empty a magazine out of that carbine. After the first time all I could do was look down at my gun with a perma-smile etched into my face. I'll try it shoulder style but I've heard that's easier with a vert grip. Best 1.5 seconds ever... |

There is a video of a guy bump firing the M1 Garand. I own one and I bet thats a blast to bump fire...lol But how do you shoulder bump fire? I saw one video where I guy had a rubber band behind the trigger that stretched around the front of the mag well, keeping a forward pressure on the trigger. |

I get occasional light strikes bumping my AR from the shoulder. I don't bump it as often as I used to, now that I have my 5.45 AK Video |
LOL, I've seen SirDrinksAlot bumpfire a Garand from the hip. I think he used a big allen wrench hooked in his belt-loop. An easy way to bumpfire from the shoulder: Get a gieselle trigger and don't follow though after the shot. BRAPPPP! |
Heh, I got the chance to hip bump a M1A once. That was a ride.

Ya that was me! Shoulder fired bump fire method |
