Can someone please explain the usefulness of the jagged edge on the 5C2. They must have had issues with them catching on things, which explains the 5C1. |
I only have a 5C2 because that was what came on it when I bought it off the EE. If I was choosing which one to buy then I would probably have gone with the 5C1 as well. I can't really figure out why, it's just the one I like better. But, realistically if I ever change out my 5C2 I'll most likely replace it with a Vortex. |
Not everyone who visits this forum, including myself, knows what 5C2 is. It took me a while to find out what it is. I think this will help: Phantom 5C2 Comp/Flash Suppressor Phantom 5C1 Comp/Flash SuppressorManufactured by Yankee Hill Machine Company, Inc. www.yankeehillmachine.com/index.html |
I carried the older 5C1 on my duty carbine for a few years, and I can tell you that there is no problems striking people with the A1/A2/5C1 muzzle devices. Its highly effective, as serves well to keep all parties properly motivated. I've yet to hear anyone on this board who has actually used a 5C2 as an impact device in a combat situation. I'm also unaware of any actual differences in perceived flash suppression between the 5C1 and 5C2. Go with whatever you like. |

While the 5C2 does look tacticool and evil, I can't imagine having something like that on the end of my patrol rifle. I expect it could take quite a chunk of skin out of my leg the first time I had to run or climb stairs with the rifle. Besides, if I come to a situation where I am "poking" somebody with a sharpened end of my barrel instead of shooting them, I have got bigger issues. Seems kinda gimmicky to me. Having said that, I AM going to try the 5C1 on my 14.5" work gun when it gets here. I wonder if there is any reduced flash advantage of the 5C1 over the standard A2? ETA: Stickman beat me to it. |
