Not sure if I can make the cut here as far as being KISS, but I tried.

Chopped barrel to 13.9", turned down the front portion to match the circumference of a surefire 3 prong, P&W, chopped bayo lug and sling swivel off, used a bunch of titanium parts to keep the weight down, and then did some freehand cerakote work. Weighs around 5.25lbs without the Warden attached.

My Easter sale PSA Freedom carbine kit. Keeping this one basic. I actually am digging this one more than my fancy tactical rifles right now lol. Figured it belongs in this topic.

Recently switched this colt back to kiss. It looked familiar so I went back through this thread and found it’s almost identical to eaglefive’s rifle.

Just an fyi… so much for Israeli KISS stuff these days. I was just in Jerusalem yesterday and noticed a guy from a regular Border Guard unit. He had an m4 length carbine with full length monolithic Geissele looking rail, Troy front and rear BUIS, magpul CTR stock, and Surefire open ended Warcomp flash hider. It did have the meprolight M5 reflex sight.

End of an Era. I'm sure they been upgrading for the late 15-20 years. They could sell those retro parts for a fortune in the states now and improve their entire arsenal.

They still had mostly AR’s while I was walking around, even with Mepro M21’s on the forward gooseneck mount.

The PSA nitride barrels shoot surprisingly well - I have the same kit, as well as a mid-length free floated one, and I have knocked around steel at 500 with the latter and only a red dot mounted.

My contribution. Remnants of a Bushmaster carbine kit I snagged the upper for an A2 build last year. Now that A2 uppers are around again I put it back together. It has an HBAR barrel which sucks and throws off the balance, but it still feels light. 1/9 twist.

KISS in 2023

And of course the super simple carbine

I'm thinking about picking up a second set of the coyote brown B5 furniture for the carbine. It feels really good in the hand and has a modern retro vibe.

@Frens

Nice basic setup.

What color/brand of paint did you use? Looks like it might be Rustoleum khaki, but I’m not sure. I dig it.

Looking at the news of the recent Gaza conflict, the great majority of the ARs, are configured as Menusars.

It seems that the configuration is still practical for their needs.

Is the PSA H&R 723 Carbine a good base for an IDF Clone?

https://palmettostatearmory.com/blem-harrington-richardson-723-style-carbine-5-56mm-rifle-black.html

What should I look at adding/modding to it to get a cool IDF Clone?

The 723 is a transitional rifle, some A1 and some A2 parts. A 653 would be more correct, since IDF guns were cut down M16A1s.

https://palmettostatearmory.com/harrington-richardson-653-rifle-with-1-7-twist-gray.html

They also have 12.7” uppers, which would be most correct, but it doesn’t look like they have them in grey.

6720 is very nice, but IMO what colt should make is simply a midlength 6720.  One version with FSB, one with shaved FSB.  Pump those out and let people mod them from there.  Holy crap it’s so obvious!

Right or maybe keep it carbine FSB and go 14.5" like what H&R is doing (14.7) but then again that my be too niche for Colt. But I'd like it!

There is no set rule when it comes to IDF carbine. Pretty much every combo can do. It's about what they can get their hands on and rebuild for their soldiers. H&R 653 is a good base if you like old school all A1 stuff. 723 also possible. Or you can even buy M16A1 clone lower and pair with flattop upper with M4 barrel. Mixed black and grey would do to. No one in IDF care about color matching.

You can get some IDF accessories from website below. A IDF sling would be a must in my book
https://zahal.org/product-category/all-categories/rifle-accessories-parts/idf-combat-accessories/

Real IDF H&R a1 lower (looks refinished black) with flattop upper

Real IDF Colt a1 lower (refinished black) with a1 original grey upper

Question for the expert…
What’s the aiming device mounted on this carbine?
Seems like it required the FSB to be chopped down…
