I'm looking for a 16" light weight barrel. It must be threaded for a fh but I do not want a bayonet lug. Does anyone know where I can find a barrel like this? I've tried the EE but no luck. Thanks, Mark |

It's easier to thread a post ban barrel than put a new front sight base on one. I would just get a Bushmaster postban barrel and thread it rather than to remove the lug from a preban configured barrel. Of course, I have a machine shop and do this stuff every day. If you have a bench grinder and touchup blue, you can probably remove the lug easier than threading the barrel. |
No, Bushmaster's website says that MUZZLE BRAKES for post-ban (non-threaded) barrels will not fit the superlight barrel. Those are the brakes that press-fit and set screw onto the end of a non-threaded barrel. |
Oh, those muzzle brakes... I know about those muzzle brakes. They are the ones that fly off after a couple hundred rounds, leaving those setscrew drag marks on the barrel. ![]() I have threaded a bunch of barrels that had that happen to them.

No. They are fit to individual barrels. The barrel gets threaded 7/8" long instead of the normal 5/8" long. The step-up bushing is 1/4" long and threads into place. I blend the bushing to the barrel while it's installed. It's not possible to add this bushing to an existing barrel. The threading job needs to have been done from scratch on a postban barrel or when shortening the barrel to 14.5" or 14.7". |
That was my guess too... I offer completely finished XM177 clone barrels for $325. This is a Bushmaster flash hider with the small step removed, then I add wrench flats and re-parkerize it. It's permanent attached with a grenade ring for just over 16" length. ![]() ![]()
