i have a compitition hbar. i bought a muzzle comp from brownells to put onto it. once i got it i was ready to have the father-in-law tread the muzzle and then i was going to pin and weld the comp on.   its a dpms linier comp.  will this affect the accuracy of the barrel at all?   thanks, brian

it won't effect the accuracy but why do you want to pin it?

because i need to make it illinois state legal. it has to be either welded, pinned and welded, or an uncommon tread pitch. ex. (23/64)  i just dont want to weld the whole thing and introduce the barrel to all that heat.  do you know a better way?

Pin and weld works OK. Another option is to thread (or buy new barrel) for an odd thread... IIRC, JP offer their Benny Cooley brake with a non-standard thread that will prevent a FH from being attached.

Thread the barrel

srcew on comp

drill a small hole on the bottom into the threads but just barely.

Take the comp off and thead the hole

Install an allen head set screw that is just below the surface of the comp.

Weld the set screw

Grind it smooth

Cold blue the weld.

If a comp affected accuracy no one at the nationals would have one.
