First of all I have a 16" carbine Bushie all factory with about 3000+ rds through her.

Shot the AR today and had a REAL BIG problem with double feeding. It was failing to eject the fired round and would jam the next round right under it. I was running it pretty dry as a test of reliability, but didnt expect this much of a problem...

I think it may have been short stroking because many times it wouldnt completely pic up the next round, and the bolt would put a nice gauge in the round beneeth the jammed round. I took the bolt out and the gass ring werent completly aligned but were CLOSE. After straightening them out and a little CLP, and she was running like a top again for about 5 mags and started having some hiccups.

....Sorry no pics but I think I'm going to try replacing the ejector spring and bushing along with putting in a MacFarland one peice gass ring......(wich I've been meaning to do anyway)

Any advice or suggestions would be nice and who would you recomend online that carries the one piece gass rings?

It sounds more like a weak extractor spring or worn extractor.  The extractor is letting go of the rounds before they are ejecting.  You can buy a Wolf extra power spring and black spring inserts plus a small hardware stor "o" ring to put over (around) the spring.  Also lube that baby up!

My Bushy had the same double feed problem
Everyone said get the #60 O-Ring. I could not find a #60 O-Ring.

So I went to an auto parts store with my Extractor spring and found one that would fit.
Brand  O-TITE size
With 1/16”
I.D. 1/8”
O.D. ¼”
Works great cost $2.00 I think it was 6 O-Rings in the package.

I hope this helps

OK COOL, I'll have to check NAPA.....Do you just slide the O-ring around the ejector spring?

Yes the spring goes inside the O-Ring
I did not change the spring for a heavy duty spring. my bolt is stock except for the O-Ring.

Take your bolt parts with you so you can fit the O-Ring

Edit: Dang spelling

Hey AZ

Thanks for letting me know everything is working fine.
I try to help people out if I can. I don't expect much in return.
But your reply is worth more than money to Me.

No Prob Rik....Its the least I could do. I was just so damn happy that I didnt have to go through a huge proccess of figuring out what the hell it was. And its always nice to learn something new and fix it the first time!

A "doublefeed" is when the rifle tries to feed two live rounds and is almost a problem with the magazine feedlips spreading.

Your problem was classic weak extraction.

Sir. You are correct.
I was just going with the terminology that others have been using.

I learned something today

YES, true....I know that now.

...Thats why my post title was in the form of a question......and its a good thing people around here know alot more than some of us. This is why I come to ARFCOM with the wierd stuff, because odds are someone else nows exactly what you are talking about.
