First off I'm shooting an Oly Arms K16 with a 1/8 twist using 60gr. Black Hills Red Box ammo, the scope is mounted using an Armalite one piece mount. I have the rifle set up to be dead on at 100 yds. The question is this, I moved the target in to about 30yds. and at that distance I'm hitting about 1" low. Is there a reason for this? I'm using this setup for predator hunting and some shots are pretty close and I don't want to be shooting under them. Thanks for advance for your replies.![]() trashcan |

The only issue I have with AR's mounting scopes is the excessive distance between the bore centerline and the line of sight. 2.5" to 2.75" is not uncommon and it means the bullet has to rise a long ways to reach a 100 yard point of aim. Not that it matters all that much. What does matter is that the distance can greatly magnify any canting errors on long range shots. You need to be sure the line of sight (center of the scope) is perfectly centered over the bore. Or more practically put, that the vertical crosshair in the scope, if extended downward, would pass directly through the center of the bore. Then, obviously, you also need to ensure the rifle is level when you shoot it to preserve the relationship. |
