I notice that the military's Special Purpose Rifle is built on a full auto lower but has a stainless steel barrel. Does this mean that they can fire full auto with these rifles? I was always told that a stainless barrel should not be used in full auto. Could some of the SPR guru's answer this for me? Also if it is able to be fired in full auto is this because they have a special barrel and how does it effect the accuracy after some full auto fire? Thanks for any help you can give this newb.

It has an auto setting on the selector because they used old M16/M16A1 lowers that they had in their inventory, not because the weapons are meant to be used as bullet hoses.

Exactly. It's not like the Mil is going to run out and get a special batch of SEMI only receivers for these silly guns.
