Does anybody know what is the shortest barrel allowed by law for a AR. I currently have a 16.5 with a M4-02 suppressor. Would like to shorten that up. And also installing a Vltor CASV system. Thanks in advance

depends

without a SBR(short barreled rifle) license, then 16" is the shortest, however, this includes the flash suppressor/compensator if it is permanently attached, a common combo is a 14.5" barrel with a permanently attached flash suppressor which adds the needed 1 1/2" to bring the total barrel length to the minimum of 16"

So I would have to cut my barrel to 11" and then permanetly afix the Gemtech giving me 16". Food for thought. Thanks for the info.

Or just pony up the $200. Who wants a permanently attached suppressor?

So I would need a BATF stamp again to cut my barrel? Or do I have to buy a new barrel?
