Hi all.I was wondering what normal wear on a buffer is,I have a bushy lower with a 20inch barrel and about 500 rnds and theres already a ring on the buffer from the b.c. is this normal?I also have a carbine with a caa stock and buffer with about a 100 rnds with no visible wear at all, i know theres a difference in round count but it just seems the bushy buffer is wearing really fast. Also when it comes to individual pieces and parts who would recommend for the best price and quality?I like cmmg but there pricey and there's so many others  that are cheaper but i don't want cheap parts,Is the high profile parts people really worth the extra money?

sounds like normal wear; as long as there arnt chunks or big pieces comming off (from burrs, etc)

buffers and systems and use will make wear look differnt

for individual pieces, i get em from eaglefirearms, DPMS, DSGArms, and a few others in the EE/industry

Is your bolt a 1/2 circle?

That usually causes the buffer to get marked up pretty quick......no fucntional problem, but that is a source for the buffer wear.

The rear of the carrier could just be burred from machining.

m16 boltcarrier,  No chunks or nothing like that, just seemed a little fast to see what i thought was more wear than normal. But since the (have no clue the maker except for wilson barrel) upper has been flawless with everything from guat to m855 to wolf,I guess i should be happy .

There's probably a burr on the outside edge where the track that allows the hammer to pass under the rear of the carrier is milled out. You can just file it down/smooth it off.

Got the same problem.

Mine got badly chewed up too.  I filed the carrier down like they told me to on here.  It's already chewed up so it's hard to tell if it helped alot..well, it's not noticably worse.
Im still within my one year with RRA so im thinking about sending a pic to them to see if i can get a new buffer.
