Hi all; I'm new to the forum and renewing my relationship with AR type rifles.  I would really appreciate knowledgable input on the two manufacturers that are most readily available to me in my area.  I don't want to start a pi$$ing contest on this one, so please just technical reasons of why one would be better than the other.  The two manufacturers in question are RRA and S&W.  All help greatly appreciated.

BOTH SHOULD BE BANNED FROM CIVILIAN USE!

But seriously...

RRA has a decent reputation.  Some of the early S&W guns were problematic, but I haven't seen any recent threads on the topic.

My department purchased a few S&W's to replace older patrol rifles.  So far they have run just fine.  I don't think we've had even a malfunction with them..... yet.
