I did not post this in the retro forum due to the fact there are still GUUs in use in the sand box. I would like to see some pics of these, if anyone has any they want to share. When did the AF start building the GUU? I remember seeing carbines in the hands of SPs when I was in ('98-'02), but I don't recall what they were. I am currently building a clone using the following: RRA lower receiver w/ internals RRA CAR handguards and gas tube RRA Bolt, Carrier, and Charging Handle Tony's 4 position stock ( via Brownells), A1 pistol Grip (USGI) Colt M-16A1 upper receiver(from CDNN), 14.5" Wilson M-4 lightweight barrel (Del-Ton) A2 extended flash hider (pinned/welded on bbl) I realize the true GUU would have either no assist/deflector or both the FA and deflector, but I had the new Colt A1 upper laying around. Any chance the USAF used any uppers in the w/assist w/o deflector configuration on any carbine/rifle? Thanks for any help. |
| i don't miss carrying that POS...haahha....the newer ones had shell deflectors, so is this GUU-5/P gonna be full auto too??? USAF EOD (that's what i did), STS guys (till the M4 came along), dog handlers carried them....can't really remember cops carrying unless you consider doggie boys cops...hahahha.... |
