I have bought three assembled Colt bolts so far from a vendor on the EE and they are stamped MPXC. I know what the MP and C are for, but what does the X stand for? I was talking to a "Colt expert" and he says it means they were x-rayed. Possible yes, likely, I think not. X-ray, even in bulk is very expensive, unless you own the equipment and the up-front cost on that is huge.

Does anyone know for sure?

Thanks, Andy

Is this something new then? I have some old and recent Colt Bolts and other than the ones I mentioned above, none say anything but "MPC".

The 'X' means it was manufactured in July, 1997 according to info I received from a reliable source.  I have two of them.

Thanks very much for the answer guys. Did they stop doing this? Like I said all of the other bolts I have are stamped or engraved "MPC" that's all.
