At about 15 yards I can keep a rapid double tap in the "0" zone of an IDPA target. Until now I have never really paid attention, or tried various distance. Monday at the range I got cocky and put up a bunch of 5x8 cards I use to do pistol drills. At 10 yards I was able to keep both shots in the card most of the time. I was pretty well pleased. I ran out of time before I could start moving back. My question is, how much should a double tap spread... what range do you all think of as the maximum range for a double tap? |
i have doulble tapped 18" steel circle at 100yrds with a 20" A4..i have also tried doing double taps on a 12" steel circle with an AK-47 at 300yrds....first shot hit...the second well yea there was no real pattern to where the second round hit . but to answer the original question, i would say it depends on the firearm being used and the shooters ability

A friend of mine a few years ago told me I was the only person he ever met that would doubletap with a rifle. It does take some practice to get it. |
Fast, all I can say. I need to get my own shot timer. If I get over 15 yards or so I'm more apt to take a carefully aimed second shot... as slow as the first (still under a second maybe) I'm wondering what that range is for everyone else is. This is a 16inch M4gery. |
