| looking to purchase an upper thats AWB compliant. Whats the general opinion on muzzle breaks? Should I just go with a straight barrel or have the break installed. what's the pros& cons? I'll only be using the rifle for occassional target shooting. |

To me the rifle just does'nt look right without something on the muzzle end. I would get a good quality comp or brake. It should look go good and function well. Keep in mind, if you are in a communist state, what ever you put on your muzzle will need to be permamently installed Welcome!

I just sold my Bushy M4 upper with the Izzy muzzle brake at the last fun show and bought a used Colt 20"HBAR Target with a plain barrel and am much happier now. The muzzle bake was PAINFULLY loud and I very seldom took it to the range, because it hurt my ears. That was with 33nrr softies and 33nrr Pro Ears muffs. Everyones ears are different and mine are getting more sensitive as I get older, but if you can't have a flash hider I recommend a plain barrel. The recoil difference is negligible and your ears will thank you ,IMO. BD |

The Wilson brake and Cav Arms Comp are good products. They look good, enhance rapid fire accuracy and inhibit a good bit of muzzle flash. |
| I have breaks on all but two of my rifles. A Colt HBAR II with nothing and a M4gery with a mock suppresor. They just just don't look right without something on the end of the barrel. I shoot almost entirely indoors. I don't find the Izzy or AK break too loud. The Bushmaster Mini "Y" comp is CRAZY loud, and my short barrel with fake suppressor has a nasty bark. I've heard good things about the mill style break from Wilson (also sold by RRA) and the Troy. I have not heard the Troy in person. |

If you're looking to reduce muzzle flip you can't go wrong with the Triangle Shooting Sports, Rolling Thunder Comp. Period. After that, it's kind of a tie between the JP Bennie Cooley Comp and the DPMS/Clark Custom Miculek comp. If you're looking for flash supression...well, my M-4 that I carry at work, has whatever the Army's putting on these days and it doesn't do crap for stopping flash. Rich |
