Since the 6920 is an LE M4, does it have a 14.5" barrel with a flash supressor that makes it 16", or is the barrel length 16"?

I was askin about this yesterday. linkage

6920 = 16" barrel
6921 = 14.5" barrel

That sucks since the Trijicon TA31-M4 series are all sighted for 1/7 14.5" 62gr 5.56mm round.

The difference in trajectory won't really matter.

What part is BS?

that trijicon would offer the scope calibrated to 14.5" and not make another for the 16".  I realize the trajectory difference is small, but there is a difference.

WTF are you talking about?

If you shoot a 77gr bullet from a 16" barrel, it will still work with the BDC, you just zero at 50 and you're dead on at all ranges but one, where you're a whopping 1" off.

For 62gr, it makes no difference from 14.5 to 16.

Nobody's using the ACOG for benchrest shooting.

so an ACOG being produced for a military M4 should be calibrated for a barrel that the military isn't using?

No, but when you purchase a $1000+ optical enhancement it would be nice to have it calibrated to your barrel length.  I'm not worried about the negligible difference in ballistics between the 16" and 14.5" barrel, I wouldn't use the 6920 past 100-200 yards anyway, that's what the Rem700 Police Sniper is for.

Read more...post less...the first 5 were a waste.

For what it's worth, I've shot all ranges out to 600 meters using an ACOG on a 14.5" flat-top, and had no problems hitting a man-sized reactive target at any range, even though I used 55 grain ammo that the reticle is not calibrated for. The BDC works very well for the intended purpose - that is, hitting a man sized target at an unknown distance range.

Besides, it could be that the reticle is calibrated for a 14.5" barrel, they just say it's for 16" barrels because that barrel length is predominant in the civilian world. 16" barrel and SAAMI spec ammo - nobody will notice the difference, even if they really calibrate it for M855 through an M4. Perhaps Trijicon just wants to avoid all the whining that they should offer a reticle calibrated for 16".
