Today, an employee at the gun store where I DROS-ed my AR lower receiver said that he recommended a bore brush and rod with plastic guides instead of a bore snake.

He said he would only recommend a bore snake for field use.

Any truth to what he said?  Bore snakes are so easy to use, I would rather just get one of those.  I use them on my K31, shotgun, and handguns.

I would have to agree with him. Boresnake for quick clean, but for a good cleaning bore brush is better IMO.

Use a brush first to break the evil sediment free, followed by a boresnake.

Bore brush for field cleaning, rod w/ brush for full cleaning.

Or you could get an Otis cleaning kit and have the best of both worlds.

I'd have to disagree, I much prefer a rod over the coils.  Plus, the otis with a patch doesn't have the surface area of a boresnake.  It's more like the mediocre of both worlds.
