I've had an AR for about four years now, but just didn't "get into" them as much as milsup rifles like Garands and Mausers. Besides, I bought an Olympic, and then found this forum and discovered that I should have bought a Bushmaster or Colt. I took my AR out the other day and had three FTEs in 200 rounds fired. Never happened before in approx. 2000 rounds. Always shot non-laquered Wolf, and never had a problem until now. What are the most common causes of FTEs in AR-15s? Is the most prime suspect the ammo?? ......and I've already been hazed for both buying an Oly AND shooting Wolf poly so take it easy on me.. |

The troubleshooting forum is a good place to start. More details will be needed. Where is the fired brass ending up? |

There are many possible problems: dirty? lubed? AMMO? Bad extractor? Weak extractor spring? But I can help you with your inferior complex over having an Oly. Since you realize your mistake in getting the Oly, descibe it for me, let me know what you want for it, keeping in mind you know it is inferior. Also keep that in mind when you put a price on it. |
Thanks MT....if I WERE to sell it....I couldn't ask more than $50 for it since I couldn't even consider it a "parts gun"...with all the out of spec parts being worthless. However, I couldn't even GIVE it to anyone with a clear conscience since it now has problems on TOP of that..... ![]() Seriously...I'll start with the trouble shooting as Eric posted...and go down the list of possible problems as you listed them MT.. Thanks guys!! |
