My goal was to build an SHTF AR to have on hand. Wont be shot a whole lot. On a budget(read:cheap)
here is what I have done so far:
Stag complete rifle kit(M4gery) with Arms 40.
Stag stripped lower.
Used Aimpoint ML2, battery doubler, M68 with spacer.
Pentagon X2HA with Viking offset mount on 4" rail
2 mags(for starters) and 1K rounds wolf polymer.

Total price-$1390 to my door.

What do you think of my setup, what else do I "need"?

My only critique besides more mags, which you plan on getting, is that you need better ammo for SHTF.  Wolf is fine for plinking, but its thick jacket leads to failure to fragment, significantly diminishing its terminal ballistics.

Check out the ammo forum tacked thread on defensive loads for good ideas.

A picture of it.
Some better quality ammo may be in order as well.
Wolf is fine for plinking, but it lacks the velocity to be effective for social purposes.

I have a few hundred rounds of pretty good ammo. This is just what I got to plink some with the new rifle. Cant post pics yet as I am waiting on stuff to get here. Will post when done, this weekend hopefully.

That looks great.

Wolf goes bang a lot more often than a lot of my other "quality" ammo.  Have fun with your new AR.

Next purchase if it were mine:  Single Point Sling

I have only put maybe 2-3K rounds through ARs from various ammo mfgs. I have not had a single failure related to ammo, ever.
I am watching the EE for a nice used sling and houge grip, cheap.

I am holding off on additional ammo for now. Need to get that genny first. Speaking of which, are you gonna be able to hook me up on the one we talked about?

Better ammo, more mags, and a single point sling.

Not necessary but recommended, would be to use a LaRue mount instead of the ARMS simply because the LaRue locks up better to the receiver and has a true repeat zero.

I will see if I have probs with the ARMS mount holding zero. Never had probs with anything ARMS before. Looking for a good sling now, more mags on the way as well.

Just look at the EE.  $10 mags that come with Magpul Followers.  Some are $100/shipped to your door for 10.  Thats a good deal.

Nice so far. My suggestions.
Same as others have said mostly. Better ammo, Alot more mags, Sling, back up optics for when the batteries are dead and you have no more.

Back up optics? Thats what BUIS are for.

My only "critique" is that I wouldn't exactly call $1400 cheap or a "budget" AR.

Nice setup!

Great set up, but take the advice from the others and get more magazines and better ammo

Nice setup!

How much cheaper could you have outfitted an SHTF AR? I mean one that can be trusted, with optics and light that can be trusted, on budget.
