Has anyone restored a Colt MT6400C to preban configuration? Would ADCO be the place to send it?

Thanks Mike.

From your photos, you kept the original front sight base, and only had the A2 flash hider installed? Did they turn the barrel down slightly behind the FH just as was done on preban weapons?

What is wrong with the 6400 FSB?? I have sense changed it but did not know they were any differant.

Not sure what your asking : " Did they turn the barrel down slightly behind the FH just as was done on preban weapons?"

But here is what is under your brake...

Don't think the bird cage goes that far back (as long as the step at the end of the bbl)

Hope this helps

The FSB on the 6400 does not have a bayonet lug.  If I restore my weapon, I most definitely want this feature. Any ideas where you can purchase an "F" marked FSB with the bayonet lug?

Does I bayonet even fit on a 16inch gun with an bird cage?

Just asking, cuz I don't know...

std bayonet will not work. there options out there to make it work from clamp on, to a bayonet with a extended handle.

I think you will find it's not worth the money (you can't mount a standard bayonet to a 16" carbine barrel and either way, it's just a looks feature unless you plan on going around bayoneting people )

If you just have to have it done, you can check with ADCO but I'm not sure if they are doing it anymore? (They did for a while then stopped but I think they started again?). If Not, I'm pretty sure that Randell at AR15 Barrels.com will do it and has the site bases in stock.

Thanks for your advice. I will probably keep the original Colt FSB.

That's what I did.  I left the standard front site on.  Also the rear nut holding the fixed telestock is tough to remove.  I used a dremel and cut it off and replaced it with a Colt 6 pos stock.

I love my 6400

Yes in my NJ to PA move.

- YHM Phantom 5C1 Hider (pin/weld Randall@AR15barrels)
- Vltor Modstock pre-ban combo
