I finally got the last item I needed to finish my SPR and the time to go to the range for a little breaking in. I got all the parts to build the upper from Jason at JTAC supply a little while ago. I enjoy doing the building, so after the parts arrived, I put the upper together in the garage and went out to pick up a lower. I like Bushmaster and can get their stuff pretty cheap locally so that is what I picked up. I was a little disappointed in the compatibility of the Bushmaster lower and the CMT upper. For some reason the front takedown pin hole in the CMT upper was a little off center so it was a pain to get the pin in and out with the upper and lower together. A little honing took care of the problem but it was still a little inconvenient. A couple weeks ago I took it out and got a good zero, which was very uneventful. Last week I finally got my Ops Inc. 12th model can I have been waiting for, and this morning I got the time to get some more range data. The great thing about Utah is there is a ton of open country to go shoot, my "range" is in the hills near my house. I have steel plates set up at 100, 200, 300, 425, 565, 700, and 875 yards. After confirming my zero I attached the can and proceeded to enjoy my morning. Before the sun got over the mountains: ![]() My morning is about to get daylight: ![]() I was really hoping I wouldn't forget to take this picture, I really wanted one with the shadow on the stones. Pic gives a good look downrange: ![]() Random shoots: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I have been wanting an Ops Inc. 12th model can for some time and after shooting it I am very glad I got one, it was quieter than I thought it would be. I also have a AAC M4-2000, which I enjoy very much and use on an 18" LMT MRP. Of the two I would have to say the Ops Inc. can is quieter, but I have not shot them back-to-back. The next time I go out, I plan on doing a comparison of the two cans to hear if there is that much difference. |
