Has anyone got a "Model 1" brand upper.  I'm considering buying another upper and noticed that there prices aren't bad.  How reliable and durable are they?

In before the M1S sucks crew.  I have heard a lot of neg and pos feedback on them.  I plan to buy a SS 20" Varmint upper in a couple weeks.  For the price, I'll give'm a shot.

only 100 rounds through mine so far, (didn't have long on the range yesterday)

but no problems with it other then I had to rotate the gas block on it a bit as it was missing about 6-8" right from 25 yards.

I'll vouch for "Model 1 Sales" being a fine place to do business with.  I've bought one kit and installed it for myself and a few others and installed them for friends.

Go for it.

I've bought from model 1 for years. Products work fine but there always seemed to be a quality issue. From missing or cheap lower parts, chips, and per previous forums about their broken bolts issues etc. hinking.gif

My last kit I bought was from www.del-ton.com. I was very pleased with the quality and the service. For now on Del-ton as my business.

I bought a 20' A3 Upper from them. Mated up perfectly with my Rock River lower. Both finishes match perfectly and the rifle shoots very tight groups. I also dealt with their customer service regarding an issue with the availability of a part and they were excellent to deal with. Wouldn't hesitate to do business with them again.

It seems that they used to have some real quality problems in the past, but my impression is that they have gotten much better in the past few years.

I've got both a 10.5" upper and a 16" varmint upper, and have had zero problems, with thousands of rounds through them.

My first build was with a Model 1, 20" A2. Quality is good, finish is good, price is good. About 800 rounds through it and no hiccups. Nothing wearing abnormally and the fit is pretty tight w/ my Stag lower. Gas key is staked tight and bolt is still in 1 piecehing

Gents,

Just purchased my third kit form them, a 7.62x39, looks good. The other 2 kits I have are all A2 configuration, with 11 degree target crown, one barrel chromed the other is not. Both rifles have well over 700 rounds through them without a problem.
As a matter of fact, my chrome barreled rifle regularly hits the 550 yard ram silouette with 55 grain Remington FMJ. I understand that certain folks have had troubles with as have I, I special ordered a rifle from them, they sent it to me without having drilled the gas port. So I sent it back to them, I cancelled my special features rifle went the chromed 20 inch barrel , and the lady that runs the show sent an RRA 2 stage match trigger set and some other goodies, and I purchased another kit form them, and will continue to do so.

A friend bought a 7.5 inch upper from them, we took it out of the box and put it on his SBR Bushy lower.  I brought about 300 rounds of old laquered Wolf.  He had another 300 of poly Wolf.  We had mags loaded and shot them as fast as we could load.  It got so hot we threw it in the snow to cool.  Not a single hiccup.  I was a bit surprised, I would not hesitate to buy a Model 1 product.

upper seems decent

their kits come with a garbage lower parts kit though

see my thread about my messed up bolt catch

I built my first using one of thier kits and a Stag lower.  My only complaint was that the bolt catch buffer was slightly out of spec and didn't fit.  Otherwise it was a great rifle.

The bolt catches are out of spec. You have to dremel the roll pin down to get it to pass through the bolt catch ( or you can order a bolt catch from bushmaster for $6.- ) other than the bolt catch, I have had no problems with them and would order from them again.

I am looking at a 24" varmint upper for my next build.

Are these barrel accurate enough to buy a 24" varmint from them?
Thanks for any info

I built my one of my first ARs with a model 1 upper from a gun show, after thousands of rounds later including much of those being wolf, the gun runs like a champ and is very accurate.

I bought a 20" Varmint upper from them awhile back, routinely holds between 1/4 to 1/2" groups at 100yds with good ammo.

My a2 from m1s has done very well and I'm pleased with it.  I'm currently looking for an m4 16" 1x7 however m1s doesn't offer that twist rate so I'm looking around.  Del-ton has a pretty reasonable upper completely loaded out but I'm still looking and trying to decide.

A guy that works for me bought one of their uppers in 6.8  While he only has a 100 rounds through it he is getting 1" groups on most days.
