I've already searched thru the forum but none of the other threads really answer my questions. (and not much activity in Optics/Sights so ... ) Config: FLATOP (no carry handle) CMMG 16” M10 Mid-Length MedCon Upper, 5.56 NATO 1/7 twist Standard fixed front sight Troy Rear folding BUIS (FBSRA4) Needs: 1. Allows "precision (minute of COM?)" shooting to 200yds - the triangle setup? 2. Allows "CQB" (such as a carbine match or tac rifle class) How does eye relief fit into all this? I'm taking a tac rifle class this end of July and will be borrowing an EOtech, which I guess will determine how much I would like to have magnification. First off get a M16 mount Compact ACOG (not the special ring mount version). Then get the LaRue mount for it - the LaRue mount is smaller (for better scope positioning for the short eye releif), it's lighter (always a bonus), less expensive (anothe winner) and returns to zero better. Personally for the Compact ACOGs I'm partial to the TA50-2R that is the 3x (if you're going magnified might as well get the 3x), with the triangular reticule (best precion IMHO by using the tip, but large enough to see quickly when using BAC), and the R is for the Red reticule. I owned the amber and it was good enough, but I prefer the red as it 'sticks out' better IMHO (especially if you live in an area with lots of tan backdrop like the desert or lots of dry tall grass). |
