I have a Colt 6921 14.5" SBR with an A2 compensator on it and I want to remove it.  My question is what tools besides an armorer's wrench do I need to PROPERLY remove the A2?  I am thinking I need a barrel block, so it doesn't put any pressure on the reciever, but do I need a receiver block also?  Where can I get a decent barrel block?  Will a barrel block work on a 14.5" barrel when installled on a reciever with a gas tube?  Thanks!

a 3/4in open end wrench and a towel on the bench. I have removed many like that. Especially if you aren't going to be doing it too often.

If it's too tight however the barrel blocks will work just fine. Clamp the barrel under the handguards if you don't want to risk marring the barrel forward of the FSB. You can remove the hand guards, drive out the gas tube pin and remove the gas tube.   I also use a rag between the barrel and the vice blocks for low torque work.

OK, So I do have to remove the gas tube to use the barrel blocks under the hand guards?    Where is a good place to get a decent set of barrel blocks?

Any that I have worked on have had the gas tube removed.  Am I saying you absolutely have to remove the gas tube so that it doesn't get "pinched" by the jaw blacks?  Not what i'm saying.  Might be enough room and there might not be enough.  On my set of blocks I remove the gas tube first.

Some have suggested heating it up.  That will loosen it up.
