I am going to build another AR. Havent decided to make another SBR, but I have been looking for AR lowers. The only thing available in my area are DPMS lowers. Has anyone on here had bad experiences with DPMS lowers? I have never owned anything DPMS other than a small part here and there. I have read some postings in the past about mag wells might be tighter but that all the info that I have heard. Any reports on the DPMS quality before I dive in and buy would be appreciated. Thanks

I love my DPMS lower , matches cerro keyhole uppers exactly and is tight enough that theres no "rattle" at all.   Mags drop free when mag release is depressed.

Only problem iv'e found (and i really wouldn't call it a prob) are some very small tool marks directly below the front takedown pin on the front of the reciever , the rest is immaculate.

I like just about everything of theirs - but even a lot of the haters agree that their lowers are good

I've built a few.  Nothing wrong with them.

I have built 2 rifles from pieces and parts laying around the bench.

20" A2 with a Wilson chrome lined barrel, CMT upper, Colt bolt and carrier etc etc.  It is a fantastic shooting rifle

14.5" SOCOM M4gery SOPMODgery

The fit, finish, function, quality is excellent. I am ordering 2 more from Del-Ton for an SPR and a "light weight" sporter or XM177 clone project.

Build with confidence

DPMS lowers are nice, the ones I have seen anyway.

I am very pleased with mine. My lower has accepted any mag that I have put in it.

If you can see the piece before you buy it, and it looks good, go for it.  But be aware that many DPMS lowers have a lot of tool marks and left over forging remnents on the front, rear and trigger area surfaces.

Last one I bought had a front wall that looked like it had been smoothed by a monkey w/a hangover, and there was so much forging remnent at the rear, over the grip mount area, that you would gouge your hand if you took a high grip or had a fat hand. Only reason I bought it was that I was planning to mill off all the A2 type pieces and make an early M16 clone out of it, so I just went ahead and finished off what DPMS didn't. If I'd been putting an A2 clone or M4gery together, I never would have touched it.

I own two DPMS lowers, both purchased in the past 6 months (one last month).  They are perfect!  I only had one problem - the newest one had a tiny bit of aluminum material left in the hole where the trigger guard roll pin goes in, but it came right out when I whacked the pin in carefully.  The other was flawless.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one.
