What is the most reliable all around AR15?

You've gotta be kidding me.

You will get 100 different answers from 100 different people on this.
Recommended brands that you generally can't go wrong with: RRA, Bushmaster, Colt, Armalite, Stag/CMT, LMT

I also like DPMS but some people don't.

Stay away from Vulcan at all costs.

The bottom line is that any well-made weapon that is properly cleaned and maintained will be reliable.  The biggest factor in the reliability equation is you, not the rifle.

My personal fave for overall quality and reliability: LMT
My personal fave for overall value (quality and reliability for a good price): Stag/CMT

A good one.

Like any other mass manufactured machine, each part has tolerances, plus or minus.  Usually all the tolerances average each other out and you get a pretty good machine.  Occassionally all the tolerances stack in a bad way and you get a lemon.  Sometimes the tolerances stack just right and you get a gem.

I think any quality name brand AR can hit the whole range.  The higher dollar brands or custom makers might enhance your odds by giving you a little more QA for the buck, but all the different ARs are fundamentally similar.

+1

The nice thing about the respected, major manufacturers is that if you do happen to get a rare lemon, they will take care of it promptly.

The one that just shot several thousand rounds of the exact same ammo and same magazines over the past year without a single malfunction.

You cannot trust a rifle off the shelf, no matter what rifle it is.

IMHO, of course.
