Received a POF 416 lower.  Trigger felt "funny."  After looking closely, I noticed that the trigger engagement surface on the hammer was uneven and "chipped" at the casting line.  Looks like a poorly casted part was poorly finished and inspected.  Casting mold lines visible all over the hammer.  I am glad I looked this FCG over before I fired it.   I would check yours if you have one.

I did inform Chris at POF.  But that is another story.

Shouldn't it be forged?

I shouldn't have any problems with mine if/when it arrives because I went with a stripped lower

I got te DSA Z4 which has the DSA lower and the POF upper. The fit and finish of the POF upper was exceptional. I think these things will happen, but it's good to keep everyone aware.
Let us know how POF handles this. Customer service is supposed to be one of thier strong suits.

Casting marks aren't an issue until they are on the engagement sufaces.  Can you take a picture for us, I don't think I've ever seen what you describe.

I have pics of what I describe.  I can email them to someone if they want to host them  Someone let me know.

We use CMT and DPMS lower parts kits.
If you have a issue with the hammer, please return so we can replace or refund your money.
The choice is yours.
Best regards

I think companies should give up on the warrant concept and just put cards in the box with the ARFcom web address on them with the note, "Feel free to go bitch like a bleeding cooch on the internet if you have a problem."

What the fuck, it happens anyway.

Why so coy with the implication that POF isn't doing right by you?  As long as you're bitching "like a bleeding cooch on the internet" why not just say it?

+1

I had nothing but positive dealings with Chris at POF.  He even returned my phone calls on his dime in the evening at my request.  Also, judging by the POF post in this thread, they say to return the product for replacement or refund.  What more can one ask for?

Was this lower purchased from POF or some other dealer that may have installed a sub quality Lower Parts Kit in it?

Finally, this thread is worthless without pictures that show the "problem", if indeed there is a problem.

ETA:  After seeing the pics posted by Stickman, it would seem that whoever used these parts was either drunk or smoking crack.  Send that crap back to POF or fix it yourself.

No, all hammers are cast, machined on their working surfaces, and then heat treated; as are many other internal parts of the AR15/M16

He emailed me pictures, I will get them resized and hosted.

There is a problem, the casting work sucks, and whomever stuck those parts in a weapon needs to have their fingers worked over by an angry fat kid playing whack-a-mole with a wooden mallet.

I've never seen parts this poor before in my life.

Here are the pictures he sent me, and while the quality of the pictures may be poor, the quality of the part is obviously much worse.

Unlike most people who have had a beef over minor cosmetic issues, and refused to post pictures, I think this one is pretty legit.  I still wish he would have notified the company and had them send him replacement parts first, but it doesn't change these are the worst I've seen.

I'm not used to this kind of humor in the technical forums. Between you and Lumpy, this is a hoot.

This is worth following for the comedic value alone.

I've seen almost as bad.

I replaced a trigger and hammer for a fellow arfcommer and have them around here somewhere still.

No, I wish the quality of the pics were better, but I guess its clear enough to show the point.

I'm not sure who POF gets their LPK from.  What bugs me is that this would have been seen and noticed while being installed, as well as noticed while being function checked.  POF probably needs to school some of their shop guys with good old fashion wall to wall counseling, or at least let them know this is unsat.

Everyone has an off product, or bad day, so the key to this will be how POF takes care of things.

He was cautioning others to check their engagement surfaces.  Some of you have nothing better to do than "get the back" of dealers here like mindless rabid fans.  Or complain like bitches about every little thing somebody posts.
