got these comments off the Archive server for you

I have a Mic. comp on a 16" upper and yes, you tell a difference compared to a standard FH. The gun stays flat when firing (not that the recoil is all that rough anyway) - but it does work well.

As far as the AK comp....Sorry I can't give you a true comparison. I had an upper a while back that had one soldered on. I cut it off and turned the proper thread on the end of the barrel before I ever shot it...it just didn't look right. I have heard thru the grapevine that the AK comp is LOUD

I had a miculek comp and it was tits. It is definately better than an ak74. Truthfully, it is inline with the best comps on the market and at a fraction of the price. You can say brand X is better but I guarentee that you can't prove it with a timer on a 3 gun course of fire. I have shot the miculek against several other comps, including the JP and dreadnaught on my own guns and some may be softer but none are substantially flatter or offer any REAL gains in high speed control.

I have the Miclueck comp on my 20" colt and let me tell you that thing don't move!!! I also have 2 JP's on a 24" and 16" While the 24" doesn't move it's also heavier by far so..... not fair judging. On the 16" I'd say the Miclueck comp has less muzzle movement over all. It's a small small difference between them all...very small. My friend has the AK comp on his Bushy 16" and it's pretty flat on muzzle rise but seems to have a tad more recoil rearward than mine using same ammo

I use Jerrys breaks on all of my AR's, I dont like the looks of the ak break, plus it has a little more torque while shooting.

I got one and took it off. It did pretty well as a comp but increased the recoil to a level I did not like. Its in a box in the garage.

Others have complained to me about how loud it is

You'll ned to be more specific about what .308.  The Cooley comp is available in .308 only for AR10s.  The Miculek comp is AR15 only.  You could drill the hole to accommodate a .308, but the thread pitch won't be compatible.

There are several variations of the bennie coolie comp.
There are only 2 versions of the Miculek comp, 223 and 308.
In my opinion, the 308 Miculek is WAY TOO BIG and HEAVY.
I would go with a Bennie Coolie or MSTN if you are just going to buy it and thead it on your existing barrel.
I don't like how the Miculek indexes with a locknut either.

I index all of them with the lathe, trimming the barrel shoulder until they tighten into correct index.
The installation comes out much nicer this way, no shims or washers to index...

I also open up muzzle devices to clear larger calibers and the 223 miculek opened up to clear a 308  would be a good option as well.
