I zeroed using the IBZ method at the range not too long ago.  Came pretyy close to what I think is zero.  Overall shot a little low, so I went up one click on the front and that seemed pretty good.

Anyway, according to the instructions -4 clicks below 6/3 is zeroed for 50 yards using the small aperature.  But it says I can go to 6/3 and switch the aperature to 0-2 and it will be the same at 50 yards.

But when I do that it shot a little high.

What does this mean?  Does this mean I didn't do it right?  Or is there something else I should know.

Thanks

I thought there was not  a  huge diffrence in height between the big and small apertures on a A2 gun

so if that is true then yes it would move up if you move it from -4 to the 3/6 or 3/8 marks

edit : Huh I did not think it was that huge of a diffrence
I guess i do not shoot well enough to notice

This is what it says in the instructions.

If you're patrolling, set the sight to 8/3 and snap the aperture forward to 0-2. This will provide the same trajectory as above but with a larger, easier to see thru rear sight. Use this setting if you also have the M68 mounted as it's quicker to transition to if the sight fails. [Editor's Note - there is some variance with the offset of the A2 aperture - they SHOULD be a 2 click difference - however some manucatures produce them with larger offsets.  Setting the sight to 3 then flipping to 0-2 might now work for your AR.  Check it at the range, you want the group to be centered  at 50y, you might need to set the sight at 3 +2 or even 4 to get the large aperture to be correct]

When i did it on my 20 A2

I zeroed minus 3 clicks at 50

and on the 3/8 it was pretty much dead on at 300M
or as close as i can shoot open sights at  300 M

is this a 16 or a 20in?

that may account for the discrepency , but alos ammo and  just the shooter are involved as well

that may just be how your rifle shoots

Its a 16 inch M4A3.  It's marked 6/3 instead of 8/3, and has 1/2 clicks, so I zeroed at -4.

Will take it back out to the range one of these days and try shooting at 25 yards at the 400 yard setting(according to the instructions, an IBZ will be zeroed at 25 yards this way), and again at 50 yards and see what I get.

It's just so tough to see the targe at 50 yards that I can't imagine I'm that accurate.  It seemed most shots were in a 4-6 inch area at 50 yards.
