Can you properly install a bayonet on a rifle with a permanent flash hider? without gunsmithing.

What's the barrel length?

ETA
FH shouldn't matter.  Especially perm or not doesn't matter.

Out of curiousity, can you install a bayonet on a 14.5" barrel with a perm. attached FH for an overall length of 16"?

Yes.  16 inch (without FH's) barrels require a modified bayonet available from some sellers here.

Wha?!?!?!  Join the Army and go to basic.

It's not brain surgery.  It's not a perm attachement.  Snaps on and off.  You have to have a bayo lug, though.  Do you have one of those?

I don't have my CMMG yet, so I'm not sure.

Do CMMG SOCOM 14.5's come with bayo lugs?

Post ban, I'm sure it does.  Not for sure, though.  Really, if you're buying something like that, you should already know.  I'm not up on my CMMG info to tell ya the truth.  But the tag SOCOM would indicate they're going for MIL SPEC, or just a cool ad line.

Best advice I can give ya, since you're obviously gonna be an AR owner, is to spend the $24 and get a Team Membership.  The archive is a library of knowledge about AR's that you could never, ever find anywhere else.  24 bucks is cheap compared to the books and videos and personal experience it'd take you to find out the same info in a much longer time frame than just a year.

I'm planning on it as soon as I get my AR.

Just remember...if you got with a 14.5....you need to permanently attach the FH.

That's the only thing that may require a gunsmith, if you just buy a 14.5, or use jewelry's solder, and a MAPP torch, to set the solder.

No....loctite wont' cut it....according to ATF.

Of course, it's one of the reasons WHY people get 14.5" barrels over 16" barrels.

Or you can get a16" midlength and put a bayonet on it.

While we're at it, would a bayonet fit on a CMMG 14.5" midlength w/ perm Phantom? If anyone has one of these, a pic of it w/ a bayo mounted would be nice.

Thanks.
