I guess this is general firearm related. Say I'm too Jewish (no offense) to buy a $500 safe, so I put my rifles on a flanel blanket under my bed without any cases. Just the actions locked open with a cable lock. Will that be a problem in Florida? Should I put something under there with them to help prevent oxidation? I take very good care of my rifles and if they'll be stored for a long period of time, I make sure theyre oiled up with CLP. Will that type of material attract any kind of moisture? I'm not a scientist. |

eezox has been proven to be the "best" in preventing rust if you are going to be storing long term. although I have found out that I don't care for it being a "dry lube". Clp performs better when running the gun. After 200 rounds or so the weapon started to "bind" up and some jams were startging to occur. i would guess that a good coat of CLP will do just fine as well. I think the website is down, but here is the cached version. 72.14.203.104/search?q=cache:Fzb-PkYkKo4J:www.6mmbr.com/corrosiontest.html+eezox+test&hl=en&gl=us&ct=clnk&cd=5 |

Usually my rifles are only store for a couple months at a time MAX. Usually only 3 wks-1 month. In that time period, will it be a problem at all. Since the rifles are hidden, I'll probably take the cable locks off and close the actions. ETA- Thanks for the link. I'll definitely bookmark that and look into it for long-term storage. What do you guys consider long term? |
