Bought my first AR15 yesterday: a standard Bushmaster A2.  First time I've fired an M-16 type rifle since I got out of the service in 1993 - funny how it all comes back.  I didn't care so much about scratching those, though.

I was hoping the trigger would be better than the M-16s I used in the service, but it's not.  My finger got a workout hauling that thing back for every shot.  There's several competition triggers on the market.  I was wondering what some people's opinions are concerning adjustable vs. non-adjustable, two-stage vs one-stage, etc.  I plan to use it in our local service rifle competitions, but I'm not terribly serious about it.  What's really the difference between a RRA NM trigger and something like a Jewell or McCormick besides price?  Would a slightly above average shooter ntoice the difference or do any better with a $250 trigger vs an $85 one?  What's your recommendation for a good trigger that balances cost and function?

Thanks for the opinions.

I have an RRA two stage trigger and a Jewell.  The RRA is a great trigger, nothing to get out of whack on it as it has no adjustments.  Works just fine.  The Jewell is infinitely adjustable, also a great trigger, but you need to know what you're doing to adjust it correctly.  I guess I don't really have a preference for either, they both work good.  For a serious high power shooter you can set the final stage very light which is handy on the Jewell.  I'm comfortable with either.

Cheers,

Phil

Go with the RRA NM 2 stage if want a basically trouble free, no-adjustment, relatively crisp trigger.  It's the only game in town for less than a pair of Ben Franklins.
