I've owned my AR for almost a week now, and I think I'm being a nervous parent.  The gun shoots great and cycles fine, but I notice carbon buildup coming from the base of the gas block.  Is this leaking anything I should be concerned with, or is it just part of owning an AR?  Any easy fixes?

It's a RRA upper receiver with a wilson 20" SS barrel and a white oak service rifle float tube.

I bought the upper used and assembled as is.

I figured it wasn't going to detonate in my hands or anything.  Do you know of any easy fixes?

Here are some better pictures.

Just shoot it!  No fix required.  After a while the carbon will fill the gap and it will stop.   It is normal.  Sounds like you have a nice rifle there.  Enjoy it.

Cheers,

Phil
