I was thinking about refinishing my M4 in something real dark with a flat look, I’m not going to do it myself being I would almost defiantly screw it up so I was also looking for some real good references but before I finish I had some questions. Will the refinished paint  surface be has durable as the original finish and will it hold up every time I apply a coat of CLP to it without rubbing off or chipping, as well as dirt and other elements? And as far as cost how much am I looking at here? TIA

If you can field strip your weapon, you can refinish it.  Norrells is that easy to apply.

Field striping is something that comes natural, painting does not, I’ll have runs all over the place within the first minute.

Not short of pouring it out of the bottle directly onto your weapon you wouldn't.  You preheat the surface, that way when you spray, it dries on contact, so there is no way you can get runs, drips or sags.

There are a lot of people here who figured they could never do it.  Once they figured out how easy it was, they refinished everything they could.

I rather someone do it for me, I couldn’t live with myself if I screwed up, any reference Stick? And what about the overall durability of the paint?
