Hello, I'm new to the civilian AR world, would a collapsible buttstock work fine with a full size AR, even tho it has a shorter buffer? Has anyone else done this?

if you mount a collapsible stock you must use a shorter buffer. it will work without problems

Welcome.

It will work, just do as you were previously told.

Rusted Ace posted some pictures here with Army guys using full size M16's with the collapsable stocks during some CQB stuff he was teaching.

Here is a pic I stole from his thread:

The reason they were using the full length is they did not have short simunition barrels available - they swapped out their normal uppers with the 20" for that MOUT exercise only.
